"Monicor-UKK-NO" device for pipeline lower generatrix corrosion control.

"Monicor-UKK-NO" corrosion control device is intended for installation and exposition of samples on the inner surface of a buried pipeline along its lower generatrix in order to detect the grooving corrosion and make an assessment of the working media corrosivity. Among the advantages of the Device is the fact that it is totally above-ground operated and samples are installed flush with the pipeline's lower generatrix on the fly without stopping transit.

Being installed with "Monicor-UKK-NO", samples allow to estimate also the effectiveness of pipe pigging.

Samples are installed on the fly with the help of a special grip through a gate valve or a stationary ball valve with a flanged joint (nominal diameter = 50 mm, nominal pressure = 40 kg/sq.cm). A part of the Device that is left in the pipe after dismantling is called a Corrosion control unit of a Monicor-UKK-NO system and can be ordered additionally.

This model was put in production at the end of 2005 and tested in 2006 at the PJSC "Yuganskneftegaz" and "Samaraneftegaz" fields.

The order of perforation and subsequent installation of a sample on a lower generatrix is represented on the diagram:

Item No Interpretation of a "Monicor-UKK-NO" Corrosion control unit operational diagram
1 A mounting sleeve is welded to the upper generatrix of the pipeline on the fly. In alignment to it on the opposite side of the pipe a mounting socket is welded to the lower generatrix.
2 A ball valve or a gate valve is fixed to a mounting sleeve flange.
3 The Hot-tapping device is mounted on the ball valve and the pipe's upper wall is perforated.
4 The perforation of the upper wall is followed by the perforation of the lower wall of the pipe, after which the Device is detached from the upper flange of the valve.
5 A sample is installed flush with the inner surface of the pipe wall in its bottom part.
6 The Device is detached from the ball valve.
7 If a model with a pressure-sealing stopper is used, the stopper is mounted
8 The Device is removed. If a pressure-sealing plug is used, the stop valves can be dismantled for the period of exposition of the sample.
